Oh dear, it seems I haven't been keeping up with that one-post-a-day resolution I made. Oh well sue me, I've been busy. Well Summer 2010 has officially started and to top it off my Moleskine for the Art House Sketchbook project has arrived! I chose the theme 'This is Not a Sketchbook'...Here's to hoping it'll turn out good.
Oh, I'm off to London on Thursday. Can't wait to hit the exhibitions, shops and the UCA campus! What to do first?!
Ah London, <3 Hopefully I'll be inspired whilst I'm there...this sketchbook isn't going to fill itself.
Au Revoir.

Contra Congratulations Forever
Since I skipped out on my Wednesday and Thursday posts I thought I'd do two today. This is going to be a music post. There have already been quite a few album releases this year. Wait...it's already May ... that's almost half a year gone. Oh dear. Anyways...I'm just going to post a few albums I think are really worth listening to. You don't need to agree with me...actually feel free to disagree!
I'm really loving the 'new' Vampire Weekend album. Their self-titled first album was so brilliant it was on loop on my ipod for ages so I was a bit apprehensive when they announced their follow up. However, just as I did for the first, I totally fell in love with Contra.
Their single Giving Up the Gun is just one of the many diamonds on the album:
The same goes for both MGMT and Foals. Their 2010 albums rock my socks and beyond.
MGMT's Congratulations is truly their sound. It demands the attention of true MGMT lovers and not just the fans that bop along to the Kids-Soulwax Remix. (I must admit that I did have my obsession with that song [the original and not the many remixes] and no matter what it will always put a smile on my face).
Foals (and not THE Foals as they like to remind us) charmed their way into my heart with songslike Cassius, Mathletics and Olympic Airwaves to mention a few. Their original sound and crazy rhythm produced the ultimate I-dare-you-to-try-and-walk-to-this-beat playlist. When they released their first single off of their second album Total Life Forever entitled Spanish Saharaall I could do was listen and wait. Wait. But it was totally new. And spellbinding.
Check it out:
Total Life Forever is a perfect blend of their sound and more. All I can say is whatever it is they've slipped into their drinks this time around...keep it coming because I am loving it.
Hope you didn't find this utterly useless.

It's not a plane, it's a Yellow Bird.
I love fashion and I love indie music. When the two come together it's like fireworks shitting rainbows. Heaps of beautiful. So when I stumbled upon the little gem that is http://www.yellowbirdproject.com/ I was ecstatic to say the least. Basically this is an online non-profit organisation that seek out indie rock music artists and collaborate with them to design and sell t-shirts with all the profits going to charity all the while raising the profiles of the bands and artists. I thought it was a pretty sweet deal. The t-shirts themselves are absolutely gorgeous but you can also find other official YBP (Yellow Bird Project) merchandise on the site.
Here are some of my personal favourite tees :

Check out the site, it's a real find :)

2 into 1
This is a link to a video titled "2 into 1" created by Wearing in 1997.
Here are some stills:
Wearing the Pants.
I'm going to dedicate this entry to the photographer and conceptual artists Gillian Wearing. I'm currently doing my FMP (final major project) and have been inspired by Wearing's "Signs that say what you want them to say and not signs that say what someone else wants you to say" project.
